I designed UK based Electronic/ Rock unit DAY ONE/ INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.
Day One were originally signed to Massive Attack’s label Melankolic they released their debut album ‘Ordinary Man’ in 2000 to international success.
The group paved the way for artists such as The Streets in pioneering a unique new British rap style.
Day One consists of vocalist Phelim Byrne and multi-instrumentalist/producer Matthew Hardwidge. The duo began collaborating in the mid-’90s, blending the storytelling traditions of hip-hop and British folk along with a slew of musical influences.
They were fortunate enough to find a collaborator in Mario Caldato Jr (Beastie Boys,Beck etc) to work with on their projects he has co produced all of their output to date.
They released their 2nd LP probably art in 2007
Day One’s diversity is reflected in the various TV and Movie soundtracks in which their music has featured, including: dark, teenage epic Cruel Intentions, Emmy award-winning US series Six-Feet Under, Channel 4 hit Skins and recently the hit US movie Easy A.
They are just finishing their 3rd lp recorded in Los Angeles, again working with longtime collaborator Mario Caldato Junior.

僕らのサードアルバムのIntellectual Propertyは、Bowers and Wilkins Societyという高解像度音源サービスからプレリリースします。ピーター・ガブリエルに優れた作品として選ばれる。最初に日本でリリースして、世界中では9月14日にリリースます。ビースティ・ボーイズ、ジャック・ジョンソンのプロデュサーとして知られマリオ・カルダートJRはデイ・ワンの3枚目のアルバムを全て共同プロデュースしミックスしています。今回のアルバムは、ロンドンにある僕のホーム・スタジオで 制作し始めて、最後はロサンジェルスにあるマリオ・カルダートJRのスタジオで完成させました。ストリングスは、ブレインフィーダーやフライング・ロータスとの仕事で知られるミゲル・アットウッド・ファーガソンが手がけています。（Just Believeという曲についてのショートフィルムを作っています）日本のボーナストラックとして特別に「”LA”」が収録されます。
DAY ONE
ブリストルをベースとする、エレクトニック/ロック・ユニット、DAY ONE （デイ・ワン）。ヴォーカリストのフェルム・バーンとあらゆる楽器/機材を操るドニー・ハードウィッチによるユニットである。90年代半に活動を開始した彼らは、ヒップホップのもつストリーテーリングと、ブリティッシュ・フォーク、そしてジャズやクラッシック・ロックを含む多くの音楽的影響をブレンドさせている。デイ・ワンの3曲のデモがマッシヴ・アタックの３Dの耳にとまり、Melankolicと契約を結ぶことになる。そして、ビースティ・ボーイズのプロデューサー（現在はジャック・ジョンソンのプロデューサーとして知られる）であるマリオ・カルダートJRのプロデュースの元、ファースト・アルバム「Ordilnay Man」を完成させた。ファンキーで、メロウ、そしてストーンドなビートを併せ持つ本作はメディアから大きな絶賛を浴びる作品となった。そして2005年、セカンド・アルバム「Probably Art」を発表。ファースト・アルバムの路線をさらに進化させた作品になっている。新作のサード・アルバム「Intellectual Property」2016年9月にリリース!!今作はビースティ・ボーイズのプロデューサーのマリオ・カルダートJRと共同プロデュースしている。
Formerly known for his works with Elzhi, Large Professor, Homeboy Sandman, Oddisee, Sadat X, The Funk League, he is also known as a great House music producer, and proved that again with his recent releases on Faces & MCDE, Balance, R2 or My Love is Underground.
This release represent our first collaboration with the legendary Fat Beats imprint.
